Since Charlie and I have never RV’d, and neither of us consider ourselves as campers, we were a little nervous about how the campground life would be. This was our first campground and we loved it!

This is a United States Army Corps of Engineers campground, and it is beautiful. It sits along the Tom Bigbee River. We were in spot #57; a lakefront slot surrounded by trees. The nice thing about that was the constant shade. The bad thing was that we were unable to extend our awning fully and we did not get satellite reception. The lack of TV would not have been an issue, except that it was the end of the season for many of our shows. To address this, Charlie ordered a portable satellite TV antenna and had it delivered to the campsite in time for our Blacklist season finale!

This campground is very well located for getting work done at the Tiffin Service Center in Red Bay, AL. If you ever find yourself on a long waitlist at the service center you might want to consider camping here to pass the time. It sure beats the Tiffin Service Parking Lot.

There are a couple of short trails throughout the campground and a long bike/hike trail along the river, just outside the campground. There is also a historical center which you can stroll through.
