Lawrenceburg, TN – David Crockett State Park – April 15-17, 2016

We spent a couple of nights at the David Crockett State Park while in transit from Nashville, TN to Red Bay, AL. The park is located on Shoal Creek, where David Crockett settled in 1817. He started a powder mill, grist mill and distillery. However, these were all ruined in the flood of Sep. 1821. The park was established in 1959. It has 2 campgrounds, one for tents and one for RVs. There is a historical museum on-site, covering Crockett’s life. It is very small, but provides a lot of interesting facts. There are bike trails and hiking trails throughout the park, as well as a 40-acre fishing lake.

The park seems to be designed for smaller RVs, but we found a site large enough to accommodate us. It was very wooded and the pad was sloped a bit. We were unable to overcome all of the slope. They only offer 30-Amp service and the water pressure was very low. We enjoyed the ambiance though.
